2nd, more importantly, the i.c.e. department wants to thank you, everyone on the ground for your perseverance, patience, understanding and support!
Perseverence for helping us keep the cinemas in amazing condition and making it through the past year.
Patience, understanding and support for the ticketing system, media screens when things don't work as they should.
We don't always get everything right, but we continue to do our best to support you as you take care of our patrons when they are ready to escape into new worlds and stories.
This year has been one of the toughest and most trying years the world has faced.
Our cinemas were not spared.
Already we had been facing ongoing challenges with the likes of Netflix and other entertainment. From 2021 onwards, SG will have Disney+ and eventually HBO Max and possible other streaming giants.
And news of the possible merger between GV and Cathay, prompts more questions than answers.
2020 gave us many lessons. One of the key ones is nothing is for certain, except change. We have to be ready for change and adapt as quickly as possible for our customers and ourselves.
So thank you for standing by us, working through all the constantly changing regulations to keep our patrons and yourselves safe.
Thank you for your smiling behind the mask, allowing your warmth to shine thru.
Thank you for doing your part to build confidence that cinemas and watching movies are safe.
Thank you for having the courage and discipline to do the right thing, especially when no one is watching.
The i.c.e teams have been hard at work rebuilding the ticketing system from ground up for a more stable, faster and expandable system for future features like membership and e-vouchers.
We will update when things are ready and aim to do so with minimum disruption.
With much heartfelt gratefulness and tinges of sadness, some of our beloved, long term ladies and gentlemen are retiring. They have seen how cinemas have changed over the last decades! From the days when we use a chalk pen to write on a $3.50 paper ticket and circle seats, to the modern digital cinemas like IMAX now.
We wish you many more years of great health and do come back and enjoy the movies instead of being behind the counters or projecting them. You have taken care of us so much, it's time to enjoy more of what life has to offer! You will be missed.
Everyone of you are a part of the hundreds of thousands of patrons who come to Shaw Theatres for their movies. Many of the patrons even remember you for the warmth and friendliness when they get their tickets.
On their behalf, thank you for all the memories!
Lastly, keep faith and remember the magic we bring, the movie industry is always changing, 35mm print, VHS, VCD, DVD, Bluray, streaming.... We will, no, we must adapt and come up ahead. Together we can. :)
